If you wake up feeling a little dazed, confused and upset with yourself then you probably drunk too much last night! The ultimate fact is that you have done something very bad to your body and full recovery is rarely achievable with a quick fix. However there are a few things that you could try to ease your pain.

  1. Drink water, and lot’s of it!
This is the most obvious tip but some people think there is an art to this. When you get home, however much alcohol you have drank, drink an equal amount of water. Then drink some more at 5 in the morning when you wake up to pee! In fact just keep sipping water for the whole of the next day!
  2. Get some more sleep
your body needs to repair itself. Sleep is the most productive time for the body to repair itself. If you are supposed to be going to work, you may be better off calling in sick.
  3. Drink a bottle of sports energy drink, such as Powerade, with a dose of pain killers(i.e Tylenol)
A Pharmacist gave me this rememdy when I stumbled into the pharmacy one morning and begged for help. It worked as best as could be expected and I was able to continue my day. Alternatively you can try mixing half fresh orange juice / half water and a teaspoon of of salt into a glass. Your body needs to replenish salt and vitamins lost from the evening before plus the pain killer will hide the headache.
  4. Eat a healthy but full breakfast
Sapped of energy you are probably craving a large fried breakfast. Resist the urge but take some note. Have a full breakfast maybe some granola with milk, a few slices of whole wheat toast and lots of fruit. You will really appreciate it.
  5. If you really need to be throw up, don’t hold it in!
Your body is obviously telling you something. Just go to the bathroom, wallow in self pity and let it all out. You don’t need it in you and it will probably be mostly the devils water from the night before.
  6. Take Emergen-C or something similar
You can buy these little vitamin shots in Powder form. Just mix it up with a glass of cold water and drink it up. You lose a lot of B Vitamins when you drink so this will replace them and you 1000mg of trusty vitamin C.
  7. Keep eating fruit, especially bananas
You probably crave sugar, well you are in luck. Fruit is full of it and it is slow releasing to help bring your body back up to full energy. Bananas are one of the best as they are also high in magnesium which helps with the headache and have a natural antacid to help calm your stomach.

Please let us know of any more that you know…. I am sure most of us have been in that desperate situation where we need as many tips as possible.

These are some great tips on how to cure your hangover. I just wanted to mention that binge drinking is really bad for muscle building. It’s fine to drink a few beers, but if your body needs to expend all of its energy making you feel better while you are nursing a hangover, you won’t build any muscle.

P.S. I added your site to my blogroll on Muscle Post.

    Hey Tony,

    thanks for the tips.

Binge drinking is very bad for every aspect of your life. Every now and then though we all overdo it (unles you don’t drink :) ) and should make sure that it does not become a pattern in our lives.

Even a few beers, too often will affect your health adversely.
